July 4th events in Bend and La Pine

The Deschutes Democrats booth at La Pine Frontier Days and the OFA booth at Drake Park both had great success and focused on building a movement for Health Care progress. The local OFA branch gathered over ten personal health care stories to be forwarded to our elected officals and polled Bend residents on their health care reform priorities. A health care preference poll was also taken in La Pine. The results were clear, that a single-payer Public health care system is less popular in Bend, while in La Pine it was twice as popular as a private system, and when combined with votes for a hybrid-public "co-op" system was THREE times as popular as the current privatized system.

OFA will be hosting a rally and house party to support Health Care reform, as well as screening a PBS documentary on that subject. The party will occur at 2986 NE Alpine Peaks Place, in Bend, on Sunday 8/16.
