Good to be back and home
incredible six months
ending session on June 29 is historically good
you are a part of history when you sit on house floor
steep learning curve
with Judy constituents have priority in setting meeting times
next priority was citizen lobbyists
finally comes reg. lobbyists
difficult time to serve first term
almost like 2 sessions in one
first balance LAST year's budget and then this year
Had to make cuts, not enjoyable but neccessary
passed HC bill
Legislature passed 1200 items in last session
Judiciary comt. passed over 600 on its own
In this sesssion all new bills had to be deficit-neutral
Tried to be a problem solver, bring people together
Proud to make HB 2008, Skyliner Forest, a success
Whisnant did not support because of development rights transfer lang.
HC bills will reduce burden on ER and will allow access to state/fed stimulus $
cover 95 % of children in OR, 50k adults as well
Need to expand rainy-day fund and Judy supports this
Sunriver hwy. expansion putting 50 people to work
6000 jobs out of HC bill and trans. bill in next year
Essentially keep funding flat for education (victory under circumstances)
Public safety push out m57 enforcement to save money

successfully protect Metolius and some bills Judy realizes she was not voting with most democrats

Will Gov. sign tax bill? (probably)

Move to annual budgets and sessions? (happening slowly)
How to stay grounded? (write up to 5 responses per week to constiuents)
OSUC? Judy takes credit for helping save it
Gov. had language in a speech to support elim. OSUC, but Judy stepped in to remove lang.
Infrastructure First
pushing ballot initiative to require City of build infrastructure along with building pemits, so that growth occurs along with roads, sewers etc
county is making petitions hard to suceed
they need help

find pro-environment candidates and support them and hold accountable
releasing scorecards for Bend city councilors and county comm.
