Douglas County Democrats' Office Grand Opening
The Douglas County Democrats celebrated the opening of their brand new office Saturday, January 27th. They had a great turnout of new and old faces alike. The new space is nearly 3 times the size of their old office at 1100 sq. ft. They had been in their old office space since 2004. The new office has plenty of room for volunteers, meetings, and even a well stocked political library.
The Douglas Dems were the lucky subjects of Roseburg Urban Renewal's "taking" of their old building. Affected business were compensated for their relocation costs and difference in rental costs. For no increased cost to the organization they were able to move into their new space.
Chair Dean Byers says, "We still need to do a lot of fundraising to carry us through 2008 and to build up a war chest to donate to candidates. But for now, the political gods have smiled on the Democrats".
